16.09.2011 Final Fundraiser!
So we have one final fundraiser left – the auction of this beautiful African Lady painted especially for Owens For Africa by David’s Mum, Dolores Hoctor. This original piece is a poignant reminder of both the sadness and pride of east Africa. In an aged timber frame and measuring 500mm x 400mm, this original one-off would grace the walls of any residence or office. We are accepting bids on this now and anyone interested can mail their bids to;  mark.hogan@owensddb.com. Please also pass on this link to anyone who might be interested – can you help us break the €10K mark?!

14.09.2011 Owens For Africa Scores €4000 for Trocaire
Our 5-a-Side in Pembroke Wanderers ground on Friday 9th was a huge success. The Irish Times beat the Sunday World in a hotly contested final. In total the event raised €4000 and we’re now up to €9678. So a big thanks to all the companies who took part. At the end of the evening there were calls for this to be an annual event. And a big thanks to the three main organisers – Dave O’Kane, Donal O’Dea and Adrian Cosgrove. And to Emma, Sinead, Niamh and Paul who helped out on the night. Paul refereed a few games making it very relevant that Refs should be sponsored by Specsavers – he didn’t get the final. Participating Teams: The Irish Times, Sunday World, Masterphoto, Clickworks, Facebook, Poster Management, Target RMG, Electric Media, Independent Digital, Owens DDB/Mediaworks, RTE, Newstalk, Mail Group, Metro Herald, Flashpoint, News International & The Star.

08.09.2011 Auction For Africa
Our Boardroom Auction included a fine collection of music CDs donated by 98FM, some not so fine wines leftover from the summer BBQ and most impressively, 4 members of the Management Board. Donal O’Dea fetched a not so creative €30 – with a bottle of plonk thrown in. Our FD, Seamus Fennessy got a decent return of €69. Noel Martyn was bought by a media consortium for €138. And Mark Hogan made €180 – all male bidders. Our thanks to John Gildea, our Auctioneer, who actually bought Donal and Mark. And to Simon McAleese & Co, our solicitors, who made a very generous contribution.

Many thanks to Noirin, Vincent, Lynn and all the Marketing Team at KBC for raising an incredible €876 to sponsor Conor’s and Mark’s 10km/20 laps of Fitzwilliam Square. A book sale, Bake-a-thon and a coin collection, as well as a generous single donation, contributed to this lofty total. And to our own swimmer Ciaran O’Driscoll who raised an aditional €300 via sponsorship from family and friends.

31.08.2011 Owens For Africa – This little piggy went to auction!
Another day. Another fundraiser. This time involving baked goods. Amy was very generously sponsored by Johnston, Mooney & O’Brien to create this chocolate mud cake piggy bank. The cake was then auctioned in the agency and after a fierce bidding war he went to a very good home for the princely sum of €118.43. So a big thanks to Johnston. Mooney & OBrien & all our auction bidders!! Stay tuned for more fundraising efforts this week…

The next installment in our Owens For Africa fundraising effort is complete. Congratulations to our brave swimmers – Bridget, Ruth, Colm & Ciaran – who between them completed an amazing 200 lengths in aid of Trocaire’s East Africa Appeal. Thanks to the Swan Leisure Centre in Rathmines for allowing our team complimentary entry to the pool. And huge thanks to Quinn Direct for their generous sponsorship of Colm & Ciaran and likewise to Sigmar Recruitment who sponsored Bridget’s swim and Dalriada who sponsored Ruth.

25.08.2011 Owens For Africa
To do our bit for the Famine in Africa, the Owens DDB Group is embarking upon a fundraising drive in conjunction with our client Trocaire and with the help of many of our Clients and Partners. As well as making personal salary donations – which Owens DDB will match – we’re going to take on a number of eclectic fundraising activities during August and early September. We’re asking our clients to sponsor us in doing these feats and tweeting about our efforts. So far we have raised an amazing €2380. Stay tuned for more details on the different undertakings!
